Bobsleigh is not normally the sport imagined when thinking of Greece or Greek athletic competition. Sometimes involvement in non-traditional sports represent a way for emigrated Greeks to give a little of themselves and honour Greece. This is how Captain of the Greek bobsleigh team, John-Andrew Kambanis, saw things when he created the team eleven years ago with Greg Sebald. “It’s a new tradition to start”, he says, “while giving me much pride in competing in an international sport that has taken me to the Olympics twice, Nagano and Salt Lake City, and representing Greece in one of the most prestigious winter sports in Europe. We are very proud of you John-Andrew and Elena!
